eShipping Preparing for Possible Teamsters Strike at UPS Freight
This is a notification of escalating labor tensions and ongoing discussions between UPS Freight, UPS Inc’s less-than-truckload division, and the Teamsters Freight National Bargaining Committee. As of Nov. 1st, no resolution has been reached between the two parties, and UPS Freight employees are scheduled to vote on a second contract sometime between Nov. 7-11, 2018. If final concessions are not met, the teamsters union plans to call a strike beginning Nov. 12, 2018.
Per UPS Freight, they can only guarantee delivery of ground freight (LTL) shipments through November 8, 2018. In anticipation of this potential serious disruption in service by UPS Freight, eShipping is taking the following proactive steps to ensure your freight is not trapped within the UPS Freight network and that it continues to move on time and as planned:
eShipping will remove UPS Freight as a carrier option from the eShipManager® TMS.
Our account management and operations teams will be monitoring the situation closely and will reinstate UPS Freight as a carrier option as soon as normal services resume
eShipping will continue to offer our vast network of carriers as options to handle the freight during this period of time.
